Adjudicator publishes a decision on the statutory proposal to close St Margaret of Antioch CE primary school, expand Kingsley co

The Adjudicator, Alan Parker, concluded that Liverpool City Council had properly identified a need to reduce the number of school places in the area and that to take no action would constitute a failure in its statutory duties.  He also agreed that whilst St Margaret of Antioch was, in itself a good school, it was the most appropriate candidate for closure.  The other possible choices would all be more damaging and the Diocese had, reluctantly, accepted that analysis.

Mr Parker was very impressed with the vibrancy of support and the very strong collective commitment to community service amongst the lay and professional people involved in the education service in this part of the City.  He fully appreciated that the loss to the community represented by the closure of the school would be very keenly felt.  But ultimately he had been persuaded that the authority's proposals were correct.
